Kevin Okyere recognized for role in Ghana’s O&G Development

For his ground-breaking vision in establishing the first Indigenous and Independent Ghanaian Exploration and Production Company active in upstream operations in the country, Springfield Group Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Okyere on December 14, 2018 received a Special Recognition at the 5th Ghana Oil and Gas Awards in Accra.

The Awards scheme recognizes key players in the oil and gas sub sector of the industry who have contributed immensely towards progressing the fortunes of the industry and covers the downstream, upstream, midstream, government regulatory agencies, civil society organizations and financial institutions closely related to the industry.

Mr. Okyere who was out of the country on the awards night, received his citation and a plaque from the organizers of the scheme as winner in the category of Young Achiever upon his return. Forty companies and 12 other individuals received nominations in various categories.

Commenting on the award, Mr. Okyere said his passion to see Ghanaians actively involved in the upstream oil and gas operations is driven by a vision to see more Ghanaians out of the poverty cycle. “We are into this not for personal gains, but to help contribute towards the development of our society and enhance the living conditions of the people.”

He thanked the organizers of the awards scheme, Xodus Communications Limited for the recognition and dedicated it to the hard working management and staff of the group who continue to push through the barriers and frontiers to overcome challenges in the industry.

Springfield currently operates in the West Cape Three Points Block 2, about 60-kilometres off the coast of Ghana and is expected to prosecute a drilling campaign by the third quarter of 2019.
