We support conservation initiatives, participate in disaster relief efforts and carry out environmental awareness and clean-up projects, particularly focusing on marine areas. To increase the impact of our social investment policy we seek to form partnerships with stakeholders, NGOs, Local communities, governments, other businesses and individuals. All our social investments and our Community Development Fund are administered and regulated in accordance with our compliance policies to ensure good governance, credibility and trust.

Social Investment Policy (SIP)
Our social investment policy is predicated on the belief that natural resources are for the collective benefit of the citizenry and that the communities in which we operate must enjoy positive impacts from our operations. Our approach is to integrate the achievement of our Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) focus into our operations with the explicit aim of ensuring better living standards for all people. We focus on the following SDGs: affordable and clean energy, ending poverty, good health and wellbeing, quality education, gender equality, life below water, decent work and economic growth; and building partnerships to achieve the goals.
Education
Education is the cornerstone of sustainable development and is the key to ending poverty and gender inequality. We seek to support the education of all, with special focus on the female child from the basic to tertiary levels. Our aim is to provide people with the skills that fuel creativity and innovation and enable them to be inquisitive and curious in their thirst for knowledge. We have established scholarship schemes for deserving candidates and underprivileged children in various communities across Ghana. We aim to support educational institutions at all levels through the provision of infrastructure, books, computers, equipment or endowments.
Healthcare
Good healthcare improves the quality of life and fuels social innovation. We offer support in the provision of health care to individuals who cannot afford healthcare at hospitals. In doing so, we have partnered with the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital - specifically the children’s ward and the Cardiothoracic Centre - and 37 Military Hospital in Accra. We also pay for the supply of emergency medication stocks for the intensive care units.
Job Creation
We provide support to projects that create jobs and build self-sustainability, including skills acquisition programs that empower local economies. We support entrepreneurial and leadership programs with a special focus on women - as the saying goes, if “you feed a woman, you feed a family”.
Environmental Sustainability
In addition to social investments, Springfield’s operations and unique position as a Ghanaian-owned independent entity helps create opportunities for local capacity development through employment, knowledge transfer schemes and procurement principles that emphasize local content.
